Police Dispatch Trainee

UCPD police dispatchers support the police department’s mission to protect the lives, health, safety and property of the public by expeditiously receiving, interpreting, analyzing and prioritizing multiple simultaneous emergency and non-emergency requests. Based upon calls received police dispatchers utilize radio communication technology to dispatch law enforcement, fire, ambulance and rescue services and allocate and monitor the activities of responding units for emergencies, disasters and special events. This position is a trainee level position designed to provide training in the police dispatch.

Entry-level police officer positions

Typically, UCPD starts the application process for new recruits in January/February and July/August each year. Successful applicants attend academies starting in July and January, respectively. Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid Colorado Driver License and have no felony convictions or domestic violence convictions. Successful candidates will attend a Law Enforcement Training Academy program with a minimum of 480 hours of specialized instruction.

Salary: $3,852 monthly ($46,224 annual)

Benefits: Excellent benefits package including tuition benefit, paid vacation, holidays, sick days, PERA state retirement benefits and an additional $300/year for meeting physical activity goals.
